As a care-experienced individual, Aaliyah brings a unique and personal perspective to her role as a trustee at Live Unlimited. Her journey through the care system and her work with young people have fuelled her passion for supporting and empowering care experienced young people, ensuring they have the opportunities and support needed to prosper. As a lived experience consultant, facilitator, and youth worker, she combines her personal care experience and professional expertise to advocate for meaningful system change and amplify the voices of care-experienced young people throughout her career.

 

She has had various roles working with local authorities to support quality assurance for young people’s residential placements, delivering training programmes to PAs and social workers and recruiting new foster carers. Outside of this, she also works in the non-profit and youth sector to meaningfully collaborate with organisations and enhance the support and opportunities that the non-profit sector can provide to disadvantaged groups of young people. 

 

Aaliyah’s vision is to create a future where every young person in care is able to thrive, because of the support, love, and opportunities they receive, and not just the few who succeed despite the odds. She is driven by the belief that the care system, including organisations and individuals, should empower and elevate those in care, ensuring that each young person not only survives but truly thrives; transforming their challenges into stepping stones for a more promising future. 

 

My mission with Live Unlimited is to provide and empower care leavers with the tools and opportunities to achieve their dreams and lead fulfilling lives.
